Maybe add a note to the fourth quote to make it clear it's from Vienna? Following the previous quote, it appears to be about Paris. Also, I thought the 'last written words' were shown to be written by his father? I can't remember where I read that now.

I find the first article to be a little bit unbalanced. True, Chopin was a difficult character to get along with for many people - in fact, I really dislike it when biographers try to pretend otherwise - but it makes little sense to paint Franz Liszt and George Sand, for example, as victims when each had their own highly undesirable personality traits. The author also states that Chopin supported Solange's marriage to Clésinger while George Sand opposed it, and while that might have seemed true later on, it was quite the opposite in the beginning. Chopin disliked and distrusted Clésinger while Sand supported and even arranged the marriage. Things didn't change until Clésinger had an altercation with Maurice Sand, though I gather things were souring some time before then.

You have no idea how long (more than a decade) I have sought a site featuring master works played by piano only. It's truly thrilling, and I'm younger for having found it. That's how uplifting I find classical piano. I usually work to it all day. Thank you.

Thank you for the kind response to our video. The challenge put before us was to use photographs and Chopin's music to tell a story. The photo we chose is is an unusual public gathering in the 1940s - a cross-section of the Colombian culture in the capital city of Bogota. In the mass of people you can see the poor, the middle class, and the "Captains" of the economy. The video captures the relationship of the architectural elements that create an ornate building, and a parallel is made to the cultural components in the gathered people.

Great post, i really like this piece. It never came out in an opus number and has a unique place in Chopin's music. Also it is known that Chopin liked Bellini's Cantabile, and the fact that he chose this piece, just shows it more.

I have been listening to Chopin for about the last 45 years and decided recently to upload to YouTube the "Dziela Wszystkie" series of his works (about 25 LPs) that was produced by Polskie Nagrania in 1959-1960. Artists include such Polish luminaries as Boleslaw Woytowicz, Władysław Kędra, Jan Ekier, Lidia Grychtołówna, Halina Czerny Stefanska, Henryk Sztompka and the great pedagogue Zbigniew Drzewiecki. I am sharing this information because I regard the contributions by these and other Polish artists of the early 20th century to be of great importance; additionally, I understand that these recordings cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. There are several playlists that can be reviewed; I am providing a sampling below, with links. kind regards

You can hear Boleslaw Woytowicz play the complete Etudes here:

Henryk Sztompka, the complete Mazurkas, here:

Zbigniew Drzewiecki, a handful of nocturnes, here:

And Władysław Szpilman, Tadeusz Wroński, and Aleksander Ciechanski performing most of the chamber music of Chopin here:

Beautiful! As usual, anything Chopin brings me to tears. A genius indeed, of the heart.
