Xiaofeng Wu has demonstrated an extraordinary talent and love of music from his very earliest years. In his native city of
Shanghai, he won prizes in the “Jinbao” Cup young-pianist competition at the age of eight and the First State Mozart Piano Competition at 12. By the age of 15, Mr. Wu was giving powerful performances of
Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto to Chinese audiences. Mr. Wu went on to the
Shanghai Conservatory, and upon graduation received a full scholarship from Texas Christian University. He received his Doctorate in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan in 2008, there studying with Arthur Greene; in the same year he was top laureate at both the Russian Music International Piano Competition, held in San Jose, California
and the Jose Iturbi International Music Competition, held in Los Angeles. In 2009 he won the Gold Prize of the NTD International Chinese Piano Competition. Among his many other successes, Mr. Wu won First Prize at the 10th Guerrero Foundation International Piano Competition in Madrid and First Prize at the 82nd Society of American Musicians Piano Competition in Chicago. Mr. Wu has been a recitalist in North America, Europe and Asia, having performed in major venues in Helsinki, Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Andorra, Bari, Barletta, Lisbon, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Nanjing. He currently resides in New York City.
